Ohio's Data Center Pipeline

Cleanview's September 2026 Ohio project tracker lists 72 operating data centers with a combined reported capacity of 4,118 MW and 137 planned projects that would add 22,105 MW of capacity.

Those numbers illustrate the extraordinary scale of Ohio's current development pipeline, but they require context. A project tracker combines facilities at different stages of development, and capacity figures are not available or defined identically for every project. "Planned" can include projects that are announced, under development or otherwise not yet operating. It does not mean all 22.1 GW will necessarily be built or energized.

For comparison, a continuous 1-GW load would consume 8.76 TWh in a year. The project pipeline therefore represents a potentially very large future electricity requirement if a substantial share of the proposed capacity is completed and heavily utilized.
