What This Graphic Shows
Using the Legislative Budget Office baseline cited in OCG WP006, Ohio real-property taxes generated an estimated $21.41 billion in Tax Year 2024.
The estimated distribution was school districts 63.6% ($13.61B); counties 16.4% ($3.51B); townships 7.2% ($1.53B); municipalities 6.7% ($1.44B); and special taxing districts 6.2% ($1.32B).
These are statewide shares; an individual bill depends on the jurisdictions and levies applying to that property.
Key Takeaway
Schools are the largest recipient, but roughly one-third supports other local governments and special districts.
